About the Speaker
Dr Evelyn Boon is the Head at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Department of Psychology. Dr Boon has been working with individuals with medical and psychological illness since 1999. Some of the other things she is passionate about are mental health literacy, advocacy for mental health issues and staff well-being.
Part B: Batik Painting with Kamal Arts
About the Workshop
Learn the ancient art of batik painting in this hands-on workshop!
Under the guidance of a skilled instructor, you will learn the basics of batik techniques, tools, and dyes. You will also get to create your own masterpiece using traditional tools such as the 'tjanting' using the wax resist technique. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a community batik project which will be sold during the upcoming CAL Charity Dinner on 26 October.
About the Studio
Kamal Arts is a fine-arts studio and community art gallery that specialises in batik painting, an Indonesian wax-resist textile dyeing technique. This traditional Indonesia textile craft can be used as medium for pictorial art that resonates with Southeast Asian culture.
