Caregivers play an important role in the recovery journey of their loved ones. Caregivers often act as the voice of their loved one in dealing with medical professionals. How much should they be involved in order to ensure that their loved one receives the best possible treatment? How does effective and productive engagement with the caregiver enable the medical professionals to better diagnose the loved one? Hear from Margaret Ong and psychiatrist Dr Ang Yong Guan as they share their perspectives on caregiver involvement in an engaging bilingual panel discussion.

Margaret Ong | 王慧琴
Prior to 2013, Margaret Ong was Vice President at Hewlett Packard, Asia Pacific & Japan, located in Singapore. After her husband’s diagnosis, she became a Caregiver Volunteer Trainer with Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) in 2014, co-facilitating the caregivers-to-caregivers (C2C) training programme, and participating in advocacy talks to help reduce the stigma around mental illness.
在 2013 年之前，王慧琴是位于新加坡的惠普亚太及日本区副总裁。在丈夫确诊后，她于 2014 年成为照顾者联盟 (CAL) 的义工导师，共同培训照顾者互助培训课程(C2C)，并参与倡导活动以帮助减少对精神疾病的歧视。
Since January 2020, she has been involved with Caring for Life (CFL), a non-profit organisation that seeks to establish a community approach to early identification of suicide ideation and care. She is currently one of their volunteer trainers.

Dr Ang Yong Guan | 洪永元医生
Dr Ang Yong Guan has been a practicing psychiatrist for more than 30 years. He helps others to know more about themselves, to remove their blind spots, to see the light at the end of the tunnels, to handle their emotional problems, and to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
洪永元医生从事精神科医生的职位已有超于30多年。洪永元医生专门协助他人更了解自我，消除盲点，在个人的经历寻找出路，处理个人的情绪问题，以及过上更充实有意义的人生。
