On 19 October 2018, Ms Nur Hidayah Abidin, a Caregiver Support Specialist at CAL, received the Singapore Patient Caregiver Award at the Singapore Patient Conference 2018. This was in recognition of her self-sacrifice in caring for her older brother, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder with depression and intellectual disability. She is the primary caregiver to him, and regularly accompanies him on regular doctor's visits and rehabilitation sessions. As a young person still working on completing her studies and managing a full-time job, her resilience and determination in continually caring for her brother makes her a role model and inspiration to other caregivers.
