Milestones and Awards
On 25 Oct 2011, CAL’s founding members, Singapore Anglican Community Services, Caregivers’ Association of the Mentally Ill and BinjaiTree Limited established CAL to support caregivers of persons with mental health issues.
Starting in April 2012, CAL's 12-week Caregivers-to-Caregivers (C2C) Education Programme began running to give training to caregivers, and to provide them the support needed to better understand and care for their loved ones.
In November 2013, the Caregivers Support Centre (CSC) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) opened to offer onsite support to caregivers.
In April 2015, CAL initiated its Individual Training and Support (ITS) programme to reach out to caregivers unable to leave their homes for long, meeting them at their own homes or at locations more convenient to them instead.
By 2017, CAL established a presence at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), Changi General Hospital (CGH), Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and National University Hospital (NUH).
CAL received the Outstanding Award - the Wofoo Asian Award for Advancing Family Well Being in 2014 in Shanghai.
CAL has received noteworthy mentions in the World Association for Social Psychiatry (WASP) Jubilee Conference in 2014 in London and the World Association for Psycho-Social Rehabilitation (WAPR) in 2015.
